Red Galaxaura. This is a strictly warm water species distributed throughout the Caribbean and along the coasts of Central and South America. Superficially resembling small corals in both size and appearance, these bushy little plants are frequently highly colored, from bright orange to rusty red or pale pink. They range in size from 2 to 6 inches tall and seldom larger. This species of algae is known to be an attractive decorative plant for the marine aquarium but is not known to be eaten by fishes. Gracilaria verrucosa. This is one of dozens or more species of Gracilaria known to occur in southern waters. Its size, up to 12 inches or more, its purple-red to wine red color and its cylindrical tapered branches, noticeably narrowed at their base, readily catch one's attention. In shallow and well lit shores the plant will have yellow branches and a red base, Intense sun light will not cause the plant to have yellow tops. The branches are mostly rather long, tapered into fine points, and a radial arrangement on the main axes which may be close to 1/8 inch in diameter. The branching is alternate thoughout, although very small branchlets may appear to be opposite.
Certain species of Gracilaria are used as food in Japan, Hawaii, and the Philippines. The macro algae is know to be both a good aquarium decorative and a good food for algae eating fishes.

Dead Mans Fingers (Codium isthmocladum). This is one of several species of Codium found in warm tropical waters of the Southeast United States and Caribbean.

Codium isthmocladum grows erect, up to 10 inches tall, forming a bushy, dichotomously branched, light to dark green plant body. The branches are cyclindrical and range in diameter from 1/8 to nearly 1/2 inch. A rhizoidal hold fast anchors the plant to the substratum. All plants shipped will have a rock or shell for a hold fast.

This is considered a very hardy aquarium specimen. It is found in waters ranging from 2 to 200 feet deep. The aquarium lighting requirements are natural spectrum and moderate to high intensity. The size of plants shipped will be between 6 and 10 inches in height. The multiple branching frons make this a very attractive addition to the natural marine aquarium.
